Believe in Yourself and Stop Trying to Convince Others – James De La Vega

Believing in ourselves can be difficult, especially if we find that there are others who don’t. Sometimes, to our disappointment, we find that the individuals who we thought would have the most faith in us, don’t. We discover that somewhere along the line, they started doubting us more than believing in us. However, we cannot always depend on others. We need to learn to have faith in ourselves, to realize that we are capable of getting through our struggles and accomplishing our goals. Just because we may fall down at times, does not mean that we can’t get up and succeed.

So how do we have faith in ourselves when it seems that so many others do not? We begin by showing ourselves in small steps that we can get through our struggles. We make the extra effort every day to prove to ourselves that we are stronger than our obstacles. Just because others may doubt our abilities, does not mean that they are right. A lot of times, we may find ourselves trying to convince others that they are wrong in their assessments of us. We may become so overwhelmed with trying to prove others wrong, that we cause ourselves extra unnecessary stress. The truth is, that the only ones that we should worry about proving our strength to is ourselves!

So please remember: just because there may be some people in your life that don’t seem to have faith in you, doesn’t mean that you have to follow suit. Instead of doubting yourself, remind yourself that you have made progress and that with hard work, you can and will continue to do so.

About B.G.

Hi. I enjoy writing and sharing my experiences with others. For many years, I have struggled with anxiety and know how difficult it can be to deal with something so seemingly limiting. My hobbies include: writing, reading, watching TV, and working hard to get through my anxiety. I currently have blogs at www.gettingthroughanxiety.wordpress.com and www.restinpieceblog.wordpress.com - In addition, I am the author of the book Rest in Piece and sell poetry, inspirational articles, and articles about anxiety at fiverr.com/rabbitbttf48 - I hope that through my writing I can help others realize that they are not alone in their struggles and that they can overcome their obstacles! 1. This is so humbly penned. . . thank you for the encouragement. I agree wholeheartedly. We must stop seeking validation from outside sources and go within. –♥Egypt

  2. Its crazy to think how much we’re capable of. I think the reason its so hard for us is because from day to day, its hard to see changes, but reflecting on the past couple of months or year can definitely be a game-changer. Self-doubt and lack of patience is the cause to 99% of all failures! Crazy to think that we are the only things stopping us from achieving the things we want. Good post, as always 🙂

  3. So true!
I have come to realize that the only admiration and attention we need is from ourselves. This is true as long as we have integrity which gives us honour.

  4. So much of the negativity that we receive from others is a reflection of their own inner negativity. We have to remember that it often has VERY LITTLE to do with us and so much to do with THEM. This can help us keep the faith we have in ourselves strong 🙂

  5. Lexes: You make some great points! While it can be difficult, sometimes we have to be patient with ourselves. We have to focus on the progress we’ve made and realize that with hard work, we can continue to do so. Thanks for reading!

  10. Lovely post! And so true my friend!

  11. Very well put. Worrying about others’ opinions only leads to self destruction. You are right in stating that it is important that we believe in ourselves, it’s one of the most important things to success.

  12. Believe in yourself and don’the allow others to jeopardize your future.

  13. So true and inspiring. We spend our entire life worrying about the reaction of others and keep limiting our abilities….while forgetting our real selves….Loved your post.

  14. You can please some of the people some of the time but you cannot please all the people all the time. No matter what you do, somebody will not like it. One of the freedoms that come from believing in yourself is that you can move forward. I just had this conversation with a friend of mine and worrying about what others may think of what you do creates obstacles to your success, creates procrastination and in some cases, missed opportunity. Great reinforcement. Thank you so much for reminders that we tend to forget in this daily process.

  15. Just what I needed to read. Thanks.

  16. Thank you ‘vercellonopae’ and Patricia for the thoughtful comments!

  17. Well said. It is true, that we can hold a lot of our value and self worth on what others think of us and not enough on what we believe of ourselves. You are right, that it’s important we have faith in ourselves- no matter what-. It all starts with us/you, as the first person to believe that things will work out. With that said, it can be tricky, but worth it.

  18. Exactly, ‘butterfly’! Thanks for reading! 🙂
