You Can’t Connect the Dots Looking Forward; You Can Only Connect Them Looking Backwards. So You Have to Trust That the Dots Will Somehow Connect in Your Future – Steve Jobs

Sometimes, it can be difficult to trust in the future. Especially when your future is uncertain. Uncertainty brings out panicked feelings in our core, and this can result in us running or fighting our way to comfortable familiarity, or an easy way out.

But, lots of time, the easy, comfortable option isn’t the best one. As humans, we have to continue to grow as we get older, and the only way to grow is to step out of your comfort zone. And sometimes moving from comfortable familiarity can feel like stepping off the edge of a cliff into a gray fog. You don’t know what to look for, and you’re not sure if you’ll be okay.

But trust that you will be okay. Trust your gut, your surroundings, and your future. Know that you are doing the best you can, and the only way to reach your dreams is to keep moving forward into the fog, even when curling up under a blanket sounds much more appealing. We all have to jump into the fog at one point, and we will all be there for each other throughout the uncertainty, and on the other side.

  1. Wonderful. Thank you!

  2. A common theme in anxiety is an intolerance of uncertainty. I think if people are able to realise that they will cope and they are not alone then we would all be a hit calmer.

  3. These days that cliff is a daily thing. However, I am moving forward. I now that things will get better and I am growing. Sometimes. the growth seems hard won, but it is worth it. I enjoyed this post and it just brings home where I am now. Thank you for sharing.

  4. The way I see it is that my comfort zone is where I should be when I’m winding down or spending quality time with friends or family and the rest of my days, while working or trying to challenge myself I should not be comfortable. Has me thinking that maybe I need to jump back into that fog a little more within these next couple of weeks!

  5. I am guilty of the hiding under the blanket at the moment I think. Time to venture into the fog and trust. Thank you 🙂
