The quality of our thoughts directly impacts the quality of our lives. The mind is a thinking tool, that’s its purpose, and just as our lungs breathe air in to us, so the mind ‘breathes’ our experiences in to us.
Left unchecked and uncontrolled, it’s common for those inner thoughts to be negative, self-critical and self-limiting. But the truth is, most people are ‘deaf’ to the constant inner dialogue that is happening all the time, they’ve somehow tuned it out, but that in no way limits its impact on us. You know the thoughts I mean, the soft whisper in your ear that you’re not good enough, you’re too old, nobody takes you seriously, there isn’t enough to go around or that life is stacked against you.
But like all self-fulfilling prophecies, what you think about you bring about. If you’re constantly telling yourself the bad stuff, you won’t see the opportunity that’s right in front of you, you won’t have faith to leap over fear to make your life remarkable, you won’t connect A to B to innovate an amazing idea that’s right on the edge of your creation, you won’t remember that you successfully dealt with a similar situation some years before, you won’t attract the right people and circumstances in to your life and so on.
This is a tough one to swallow, but you’re your problem…but happily…that means you’re also your solution! Pay attention to your thoughts, if you notice a negative self-belief or thought, stop and consider the alternative e.g. “I’m too old” could become “Plenty of people older than me have succeeded at this” or “I’m not good enough” could become “I have so many unique and valuable skills to offer.”
Be inspired, take charge of your life and be happy.
