Close Some Doors. Not Because of Pride, Incapacity or Arrogance, but Simply Because They No Longer Lead Somewhere – Paulo Coelho

“Knock, Knock.”
“Who’s there?”
“It’s Me.”
“Me, who?”
“The road to nowhere.”

Would you open the door? Would you give your time to this, “road to nowhere?”
And what if you have already invited it in? Would you continue to sit at the table with it? Pouring it another cup of coffee and wondering when the conversation will lead you somewhere?

And while you wait for that “somewhere” to arrive, there may be other knocks on that door to life. Are you available to answer or are you too distracted by the waiting of a conversation to start? Are you encouraged to go on more adventures, or are you weighed down by the current baggage? Standing at the door of a barren road, do you see a better person in the mirror, or do you go unrecognized by your own self?

Time does not wait for our realizations. Time wasted, is time we will never get back. Close the doors to desolate roads and open the ones calling to experience life and encourage personal growth. There are many places awaiting.

  1. Very apt, thank you for posting it is one of the three messages of confirmation today. bless you.

  2. Thank you, it was the right timing for this.
    Simple and straight.
And nothing new for anyone but we need to hear/read this from time to time when it is time to wake up.

  3. Fantastic words to live by or not…..

  4. Even the road to nowhere leads somewhere and the strong mind can flourish, even in the desert.

  5. Great advice. I am looking at closing some doors myself just now.

  6. That’s the way to go!!!!! .)

  7. LOVE IT!!! VERY INSPIRING 🙂

  8. Thanks for posting an amazing insight, wow I never though of things this way before. Some people have to suck it up though unfortunately – their life choices often stem from responsibility; so walking away isn’t as easy doing as saying it. Nice if you can re-direct yourself though, and of course the options are there. Do have advice for those who don’t have that luxury though – perhaps an alternative exit plan?

  9. Wonderful post, this is the way I have been feeling lately. Time to refine!

  10. This poses some very thought-provoking questions for sure… I’m coming up on a huge decision-posts like these always have wonderful timing! 🙂

  15. Time waits for no one and every now and then we all need a simple reminder. Thanks for this posts because I am also reminded to close certain doors that will not serve me in any way,

  16. A nice reminder to move on when you know you’ve been there, done that and to let go of
the fear of trying something new.

  17. Thank you; I have recently closed a door I was fighting to keep open, and now I am free!

  18. Over the years (I’m older now) I’ve heard this many times – but I greatly appreciate the eloquence and brevity in which you pose it. Good post!

  19. That is wisdom. Thanks for sharing.
