What does it mean to have courage?

In movies and storybooks, it seems like the main character often displays their courage in bold, athletic acts. Maybe they save children who are trapped under a giant boulder. Or maybe they jump in front of a car that’s skidding toward an innocent bystander.

Truthfully, we probably will never be faced with these dramatic scenarios in our lifetime. In fact, most of our lives are very quiet in comparison. However, whether we’re taking action or sitting still, each of us are being courageous in our own way.

Sometimes an act of courage is simply facing a new day with a determined attitude. Or refusing to give up on a goal. Courage is the motivator of many small acts – like standing up for yourself or helping a friend in need.

When times get tough, it can be easy to feel low about yourself. But don’t forget that by facing the tough times and trying to prevail, you are being your own quiet, courageous hero.

  1. This is an amazing seed, April, and I totally agree. I think that some people don’t realize that just because we don’t always do things that are considered huge signs of courage, doesn’t mean that we’re not still brave. I think that by writing this seed, you’re reminding everyone of just how strong and amazing they are! Thank you!

    • Thanks for your comment, B.G! I definitely think everyone can be reminded of their inner strength every once in awhile, I know it’s something I need!

Love the post. The seed planted here encourages others and lets us know that courage is not always a major ordeal. When we get true understanding, we walk in power. With all thy getting, get understanding (Proverbs). Thank you so much for this.

  3. This really resonates with me at the moment, so thank you, April!

This idea is just in time for me!! thanks!

  5. Sometimes Courage is just not letting Fear overcome you and not showing to others that you are fearful of a certain situation or thing. It is not the absence of Fear but the control of it – that, to me is Courage.
