In the Dim Background of Our Mind, We Know What We Ought to Be Doing but Somehow We Cannot Start – William James

Nobody knows us better than we know ourselves. This means, deep down, we each truly know what we want, or the best paths to take.

However, sometimes we have trouble trusting our instincts. I find myself asking, “What if I’m wrong? What if I miss out on a great opportunity?” These questions have kept me from taking steps in the past to reach my goals or find happiness.

However, the best thing we can do is believe in ourselves and trust that our instincts will take us on the right path. Once we start doing this, we can have true control of our future and the person we become.

Is there a step you want to take that’s been in the back of your mind lately? Something you know you should do, but that might be overwhelming? There’s no time like the start of a new year to do something courageous and better your life.

  1. sometimes it’s hard for me to notice what is my intuition is saying, i guess it’s because i’m afraid of what it has to say so i don’t give the space for it to be heard. but thanks for the great article! (i’m trying to face that fear through meditation and journaling, bit by bit) <3

  2. I’ve just made a decision that everyone thinks is a snap one. Right out of the blue. But really I’ve been playing with the thought for years, picking up information and waiting for the right time. All subconsciously. So it’s actually a very considered decision.
