Our excuses lull us into a false sense of security, they construct a comfort zone that can fool us into thinking we are living a full life, but in reality, it’s more akin to living inside of a snow globe.
There are many excuses we can tell ourselves for why we find ourselves in our current situations or why we can’t move forward in a relationship, goal or project. “I’m too busy,” “I don’t know how,” “I’ll get to it tomorrow.” – In the world of excuses, tomorrow never comes. And if we are really being honest with ourselves, we know that the excuse of not having enough time or being too busy for something is almost never valid. That something for which we attach the excuse of not having enough time, is simply just not that important or a top priority for us. We can’t find 30 minutes a day to exercise, but we can surely find an hour at night to watch the newest episode of our favorite T.V. show – sound familiar? We all have 24 hours in a day, if something is that important to us we will find the time, if it’s not, we will likely find an excuse.
Fear can also play a major role in the formation of our excuses. If we are fearful of doing something, fearful of what others might think, or fearful of how we might feel in a certain situation, we will be more likely to avoid and find an excuse. But we must know that success reserves itself for those willing to push their fears and push past their excuses.
Begin now to question the excuses your mind wants to form – are they valid? What’s the real reason you are making this excuse? Look beneath your excuses and find their source. A whole universe of possibilities lies just beyond the walls of your excuses, break them down and discover this better life.
