I Say If I’m Beautiful. I Say If I’m Strong. You Will Not Determine My Story, I Will – Amy Schumer

When we feel unsure of ourselves, or self-conscious, it’s easy to look for answers in the people around us. We see how other people treat us, realize what they think of us, and let those opinions define how we feel and act. However, if you catch yourself doing this, it’s important to break the habit as soon as possible.

No one can tell you who you are, or who you should be, expect for yourself. This is because no one will ever know you like you know yourself. You are the only person in the world who knows every single dream, goal, and habit you possess. No one else in the world has your intuition. So defining yourself by other people’s opinions is a recipe for dissatisfaction.

Also, you can’t please everyone. So worst of all, you could find yourself grasping onto the opinion of someone who thinks little of you or your actions. And it’s terrible to have your self-esteem crushed because of another person’s biased opinion.

It’s not easy, but you have to do what it takes to love yourself and define yourself as a strong person, no matter what others think. Be kind, do the best you can do, and know that no one has the power to write your story for you.

  1. Sometimes we make assumptions of what we think people are thinking about us, but that is really us projecting our own insecurities into those assumptions.
