Are your thoughts in support of those qualities you seek to personify? To be happy, we must think happy thoughts. To give love, we must think loving thoughts. To show compassion, both for ourselves and others, we must think compassionate thoughts.
These are obvious statements, yet most of us are going through life trying to express these qualities while in conflict with our thoughts. We want to be happy, yet we allow ourselves to dwell on what we have done wrong. We want to be positive, yet we look for the faults in ourselves, a situation, or others.
When we fill our mind with self-limiting and destructive thoughts, life can be a struggle. When we give unconscious awareness to the mind, it can steer our life to undesirable locations.
Try to notice the nature of your thoughts today, if they aren’t in support of those qualities you want to embody, then make the conscious choice to shift them to those that do. Be mindful of those negative thoughts and then shift them to their positive counterpart.
