Let Us Be Grateful to People Who Make Us Happy, They Are the Charming Gardeners Who Make Our Souls Blossom – Marcel Proust

While we need to learn to depend on ourselves for happiness, there is nothing wrong with wanting support from others. As human beings, we want to feel loved and cared for. Though there are some individuals in the world that are less than kind and don’t put much effort into trying to support their fellow men and women, there are those who try their hardest to reach out and help each other.

Compliments and kind comments go a long way. Feeling as if we are appreciated can help to both raise our self-esteem and help us realize just how important we are to the rest of the world. While we need to continue to remind ourselves of our self-worth, there is nothing wrong with being kind to others and accepting compassion from those willing to give it.

We need to be grateful for those who are nice to us. There are so many people in this world who don’t feel understood or appreciated. It’s not a good feeling when people don’t show that they care about us, so when we do feel loved, it is important that we recognize what a gift it is to have someone reach out to us in a positive way.

Have you ever had a day where you felt like everything was falling apart or a day where you just felt unmotivated? What does it feel like when you’re having one of these less than fantastic days and then someone comes along and gives you a compliment? If we accept the compliment and take it for what it is – an expression of someone’s kindness and appreciation, we realize just how happy it can make us. A simple compliment can make our day all the better knowing that others recognize the good things we have to offer.

People say that it doesn’t take a lot of effort to be kind. I think that for some people, being kind comes easier than it does for others. It doesn’t really matter though how easy or difficult it is for a person to find it in their heart to touch a person’s soul, because no matter what, kindness is worth more than money could ever buy. So next time, you’re having a bad day, try your hardest to reach out to someone and when you find yourself being reached out to, remember to be grateful!

  6. I enjoyed your post and just had to add the quote from Marcel Proust to my quote book. My daughter also suffers from anxiety. She doesn’t have a mean bone in her body, being nice is effortless for her. Thanks for sharing.

  10. That is why it is so important to “practice intentional kindness.” 🙂

  11. I appreciate this post as I agree completely with you. Many times people pass one another and rarely take the time to simply smile or say hello. A kind word sometimes can go a long way to brightening someone’s day!
