Life Is What Happens When You Are Busy Making Other Plans – John Lennon

We are a part of this movie which is playing non-stop. People come and go constantly. We think we are in control of our lives because after all, this is our movie. But then we are rewarded with experiences that make us realize that we should stop trying so hard to plan everything and direct our lives in the right direction.

We have so much tension, backlogs, payments, meetings, finances to manage that we are sucked into a whirlwind where we try to do everything right. Can you actually make everything perfect? It is natural for some odd things to happen; some things just won’t work out today. Let us not fret over what is not possible to be done and instead focus on the present possibilities.

Stop, breathe and relax. Tomorrow is yet to come. All we have now is today. Maybe what we planned will be run over by some other factors of which we have no control of. What if there is some natural disaster? All the plans for tomorrow and the next week and even the next month may be spoilt. So, don’t overdo with “tomorrow” – think of now. While we are busy making plans for our future, our present is slipping from our hands. We are in the present now and this is where we should live today. Future will again be a present and we will have time for it too.

Live a little today. See people you haven’t in a while, spend some time with family, take out a little bit of time for yourself and do what you love to do. Do it today. If we stop for a while from our everyday hectic life and ponder over what we are doing, we will be able to see how much we are missing out. Tomorrow will only be beautiful if you live your today with all your heart.

  1. Slipping into the future past is so habitual for so many of us. Learning to be mindful keeps us more anchored in the present, the only place where we can actually live our life.

  2. Great post! Staying presently mindful in the moment is hard to do, but the feeling that comes with doing so has no comparison. G-uno

    “Breathe.”
    “Work will be here tomorrow.”
I come in earlier than everyone else to get things ready, but then get my coffee and stand outside at sunrise.
