It’s easy to spend our days being critical of the things, or even people, around us. We all put out small fires in our day-to-day life, whether at work, school, or home, so being a judge to all of these external events may make us feel better about the things we can’t control.
However, I’ve found that when I let myself get lost in this negative pattern of thinking, I don’t feel good. This is because negativity makes us tired, cranky, and stressed. And habits like this will affect us over time, whether we realize it or not.
People who focus on making their thoughts calm and positive end up much happier overall. It may be easier to turn to judgement or annoyance when we have an inconvenience in our day, but if we take a step back from these feelings and decided to look at the situation differently, we may end up feeling more at peace. Or we may even come to a new solution we never imagined before, or simply make a new friend. More opportunities present themselves when we act as a bright light in difficult circumstances.
