We may hear the phrase a lot, whether out loud or in our own minds: “I could be happy if I only had this one thing.”
Maybe that thing we want is more money, or a promotion at work, or the approval of someone in our life. We convince ourselves that this one desire is the missing piece in the puzzle of our life, and if only we had it, we could feel at ease.
However, life doesn’t work this way for many people. Sometimes, when we attain our heart’s desires, that blissful feeling fades quickly. And then we find something else we want, so we set out to reach new goals and face new challenges.
It’s great to keep working toward new goals and challenges. But don’t forget about what you already have right in front of you. It can be so easy to drain your energy focusing on what you don’t have, that you might forget you already have so many reasons to be happy.
You deserve to feel proud of the things you already have, those things that should make you happy. Because at one point you worked hard to attain them.
