They say happiness is illusory. Here now, gone the next moment. That it’s like a mirage in the desert. I believe they are wrong. I believe that it is not an illusion or a mirage. It is real. It is very real. As real as the sun in the sky and the stars that come out at night; the beauty of a blooming flower. As real as the smile on lovers’ face.
True and lasting happiness might seem unattainable. You can have it too. You can learn the secret to taming this horse.
How? You ask!
Remember your first love? The starry-eyed lover. Nothing in the world could go wrong. Know what triggered it? It’s a little chemical called Dopamine. The same dopamine is released when we win a contest, or a lottery, or accomplish whatever huge or tiny feat.
Happiness comes through constant, never ending progress. In one word-achievement. Set a goal and then work towards it. Nothing can beat that feeling of exhilaration you get when you conquer your goals.
Want a happy day? Set a goal for the day and then work towards it.
A happy week? Set a goal for the week and then work towards it.
A happy month? Set a goal for the month and then work towards it.
A happy year? Set a goal for the year and then work towards it.
A happy life? Set goals and then work to achieve them.
(You know the drill. Rinse and repeat.)
And then watch the sunshine and the rainbow come out of the clouds.
