The Greatest Danger for Most of Us Is Not That Our Aim Is Too High and We Miss It, but That It Is Too Low and We Reach It – Michelangelo

One of the many reasons life is worth living is to follow our dreams and passions. For some people, the ultimate goal is to raise a large, happy family. For others, they aim to reach the top of their career ladder and act as a leader. These different dreams are what make each of us unique and vibrant.

We sometimes, however, find ourselves in a rut from being told “no” by life. We might get rejection letter after rejection letter from jobs or schools, and maybe the larger-than-life dream we once had starts to dwindle into a flickering light.

This is when many people lower their standards, let go of their high hopes, and stop chasing their dreams. Rejection is hard, after all. We can let go of our dreams and live with less than we wish.

But this is no way to be content and fulfilled in life. Keep going after dreams if they are what you truly want. If they end up not being what you want, then adjust your aim. But don’t settle for a goal that doesn’t inspire you.

  1. True. Many of us do not know what we want. We join rat race and continue. In some part of the world jobs are difficult to come by. Many are scared to quit, unless absolutely essential. Many are risk averse. I guess we need to change our outlook to life, to be happy.

  2. Beautiful post! So relatable to us normal, everyday folk. Thank you for this inspiring post. Definitely a “pep talk” I needed to come across.
