We May Encounter Many Defeats but We Must Not Be Defeated – Maya Angelou

The weight of the burdens we carry can be extremely heavy. While not all days are bad, not all days are perfect either. We all experience moments that we are not proud of and may later, regret.

Struggling is not the same as failing. Falling is not the same as never getting back up. We may cry, but we can always wipe away our tears and continue to face the music. Just because we may have obstacles that we have to try to overcome does not mean that we are weak or that we do not have the strength to win the war against what tries to challenge us.

The important thing to remember is that when we are hit with difficult times, we need to gather our strength in order to power through. As stated in the song Hands by Jewel, “I will gather myself around my faith for light does the darkness most fear.”

We may all struggle, but that doesn’t mean that our struggles have to define us! If we shine the light of positivity on the darkness of suffering, we will get through our troubles.

About B.G.

Hi. I enjoy writing and sharing my experiences with others. For many years, I have struggled with anxiety and know how difficult it is to deal with something so seemingly limiting. My hobbies include: writing, reading, watching TV, and working hard to get through my anxiety. I hope that through my writing I can help others realize that they are not alone in their struggles and that they can overcome their obstacles! I currently have blogs at www.gettingthroughanxiety.wordpress.com and www.restinpieceblog.wordpress.com - In addition, I am the author of the fantasy-horror novel, Rest in Piece and short story collection, Abstract Clarity.

  1. You said it so well. “We may encounter many defeats, but must not get defeated.” This is how a leader encourages his troops. Brilliant!
