What a Lovely Surprise to Finally Discover How Unlonely Being Alone Can Be – Ellen Burstyn

We are now more connected than ever before. With a few taps of our phones and computers, we can find out what our family, close friends, and random acquaintances are doing at any hour of any day. There are many benefits to this technology, but one downside is that we can become addicted to unnecessarily keeping in contact with others and their lives.

As we grow up and become comfortable in our skin, we’ll learn that one of the best feelings in the world is being at peace with our own solitude. When we feel content being alone, the world seems to slow down, our thoughts stop racing, and we feel good just sitting in a quiet room, maybe with a book or a cup of coffee.

In order to do this, we have to disconnect from technology, stop thinking about minuscule events going on in the outside world, and enjoy our own presence. And this type of confidence can make anything possible.

  2. Nothing like some downtime on your own! Everyone should be their own best friend – it’s the only person you know for sure that you’ll spend a lifetime with.
