Act as If What You Do Makes a Difference. It Does – William James

As much as we would like to constantly believe in ourselves, we all experience moments of doubt. Working towards a goal is hard and it only makes sense that we would grow tired. At times, we may find ourselves questioning our worth or even, if what we are doing matters in the grand scheme of things.

What we do in life does matter – our actions do make a difference. Being kind to ourselves and those around us is meaningful and striving our hardest to achieve our goals is beneficial. It may seem like we aren’t getting as close to our goals as we would hope or getting there as fast as we want, but if we put in the constant effort to succeed, it will happen!

Giving up can be tempting. Sometimes we grow weary and realize that if we give up on our dreams, less effort will be needed. While less work often seems appealing, it is actually quite detrimental. Giving up will never amount to happiness or success, while hard work always promises to be rewarding. After all, even if things don’t turn out exactly how you want, you will still come out on the other side realizing that you have the ability to try your very best.

So act as if each action that you make matters, because it truly does. Every choice you make dictates the fate of your future.

About B.G.

Hi. I enjoy writing and sharing my experiences with others. For many years, I have struggled with anxiety and know how difficult it is to deal with something so seemingly limiting. My hobbies include: writing, reading, watching TV, and working hard to get through my anxiety. I hope that through my writing I can help others realize that they are not alone in their struggles and that they can overcome their obstacles! I currently have blogs at www.gettingthroughanxiety.wordpress.com and www.restinpieceblog.wordpress.com - In addition, I am the author of the fantasy-horror novel, Rest in Piece and short story collection, Abstract Clarity.

  1. Thanks for the reminder! I often feel like what I do is meaningless when the outcome and effect aren’t apparent right away.

  2. Great post! I have to get reminded to keep striving as much as possible.

  3. Thank you for your post and writing 🙂 <3
