It’s easy to keep holding onto what’s familiar in our lives, even when what’s familiar is no longer good or healthy for us. Holding onto a situation from the past might feel much safer than stepping into the unknown.
However, if we hold onto something from the past – something that is no longer any good for our present – we miss out on opportunities to grow and experience new things. Our back is turned on new chances and experiences, putting too much energy into pulling on something that’s already floating away.
So how do we move on with a new presence, when our past feels so much better or more comfortable? Some people focus on their faith or focus on the idea that the universe has a plan for them. Other people become dedicated to focusing on a person, place, or thing that makes them jump out of bed in the morning.
It’s definitely not as easy as it sounds, but if we don’t try to move forward, we won’t have a chance of happiness. And happiness is what we deserve.
