It Is Good to Have an End to Journey Toward; But It Is the Journey That Matter in the End – Ursula K. Le Guin

Achievement is a powerful motivator. Having goals and milestones to reach are essential for our personal growth. However, the final realization of any goal or dream is not the true reward. In life, it’s not the successes that hold the most value, it’s the journey along the way towards those achievements, where the true treasures lie.

It’s the memories, the experiences, and the friendships. It’s the trials and the tribulations. It’s the laughs and the tears. It’s the resolve to keep going after failure, and the tenacity to continue to get back up after defeats. It’s the dedication, the hours of practice, and the development of old and new skills. It’s the dreaming, the planning, and the gathering of knowledge. It’s the daily actions and habits.

The journey is what life is all about.

Don’t get so lost in the mindset of future accomplishment that you forget to enjoy and embrace the everyday happenings that are paving the road toward that achievement. The final results are what we all seek, but it’s the life in-between the dream and the accomplishment that we must remember to enjoy.

  1. This is such a succinct expression of the integrated mindset of motivation, just beautiful. If you have to do something, align it to your values and follow what you know to be true and the journey will be it’s own reward. Thanks for sharing.

  2. I could not agree with this more. I recently went through some trying times at work, and i’m so glad I stuck it out. Thank you for sharing this post. This reminds me more to let go, continue to do my best, and enjoy life as changes and things happen. Thank you!

  3. This is so true. The true feeling of accomplishment comes through enjoying the journey. Thank you for this perspective.

  4. Love this message! My college track coach always told us, “the quality of your journey is far more important than the quality of your destination.”

  5. I agree! We all have an end goal to keep us going, but when we reach it, we realize how much further we want to go. It is all about the journey. That’s why its soo important to enjoy the process <3

  6. A good reminder to enjoy the present moment instead of living in the future. Thank you!

  7. So very true. Living in the moment and the now is the secret, thanks for the reminders.

  8. Thank you, I needed this reminder currently. I am about to embark on a long road of study and life changes and am full of both hope and immense doubts. Embracing the journey as it unfolds piece by piece, rather than fixating on the destination, should make it much more rewarding.
