Independence Is Happiness – Susan B. Anthony

On this July 4th (America’s Independence Day) decide to declare your own mental independence!

Negative and anxious thoughts have a way of making us feel as though we no longer have complete control over our life. That we are powerless, and simply at the mercy of their will.  It can feel at times as though all we can do is just hang on, and survive just another day…but it doesn’t have to be.

Today, utilize the practice of mindfulness to help you become more aware of your pattern of thinking.  When you notice a negative or anxious thought, don’t act on it, don’t accept it, just observe it.  Take a second to step back and just watch it, notice it, WITHOUT judgement.  Then, let it pass, and release it.

Let today be the day you begin to fight back.  Declare your independence from those self-defeating thoughts that seek to hold you down.  Recognize that you don’t have to continue to identify yourself as the false reality they project.

You have a choice; find your freedom, find your happiness.

  1. Interestingly enough i jotted some “BE PRESENT” and “IN THE NOW”, thoughts this morning… What a wonderful piece! FREEDOM!!

    Kind Regards and Happy 4th – K

  2. “Let today be the day I begin to fight back.” Thank you: you have planted a seed.

  3. Very wise words. Visit my blog for my latest jingle release ‘I love you’: rockmystar.wordpress.com

  4. I absolutely LOVE this seed! Especially since I’m planning on going somewhere tonight, I could use the strength to get through my anxiety. Also, I’m trying really hard today to get back on track after a few difficult days. Thank you so much for writing and sharing this! 🙂

  5. Thank you, this is a great post!

  6. This is an awesome post! It is so important for people to know that they have control over their own thoughts, because it’s the only way people can stop the negativity. Thanks for a great post!

  7. There was a time I was consumed with the idea that a world elite was in charge of my destiny and my dreams would never become true, because the 1% had decided so, and all the good was for them only. 1% of the world’s population is “little” 70 million. It’s all about what we eat with our minds!

Thanks for sharing your input Seeds.

  8. True for most of us, most of the time, but we all have friends who battle depression. Your post is excellent advice when we’re enjoying the blessing of mental health.

  9. It’s true – having had depression, it can be difficult to feel as though you have a choice or the freedom to take charge of your thoughts. This is a sign of wellness and wholeness. I think it’s a goal we strive towards, whether mentally ill or not! Thanks for this post 🙂

  10. What an absolutely awesome blog! Love this article:-)
