On this July 4th (America’s Independence Day) decide to declare your own mental independence!
Negative and anxious thoughts have a way of making us feel as though we no longer have complete control over our life. That we are powerless, and simply at the mercy of their will. It can feel at times as though all we can do is just hang on, and survive just another day…but it doesn’t have to be.
Today, utilize the practice of mindfulness to help you become more aware of your pattern of thinking. When you notice a negative or anxious thought, don’t act on it, don’t accept it, just observe it. Take a second to step back and just watch it, notice it, WITHOUT judgement. Then, let it pass, and release it.
Let today be the day you begin to fight back. Declare your independence from those self-defeating thoughts that seek to hold you down. Recognize that you don’t have to continue to identify yourself as the false reality they project.
You have a choice; find your freedom, find your happiness.
