Without purposeful action, the door of opportunity remains closed, leaving us wondering what was waiting for us on the other side. This regret can weigh on our minds like a wet blanket. Despite the many hours learning and developing skills necessary to perform well during the big moments, fear can set in, and this discomfort can cause us to momentarily question our capabilities. Rather than conceding to these worries or anxieties, which are often irrational products of past experiences, we can choose to confront them. Instead of letting them blindly control us, we can observe them and question their credibility.
By developing a deeper understanding of our fears, we can untangle the web of emotion that holds us back from making amazing moves in our lives. When we understand that negative experiences from the past are NOT part of who we are right now, we begin to free our minds.
Then something magical happens. This process of acknowledgement, understanding and letting go allows us to forgive ourselves and others for past mistakes. This enables us to place more energy on what is happening to us right now. Then life seems to flow more easily. We let go of the past, trust the future, and surrender to the present moments. Our heads are clear, our senses are heightened, and our thoughts are pure and positive.
Surrendering to the present situation enables our minds and bodies to work together in a beautiful, natural rhythm. We begin to notice the wonderful opportunities that naturally unfold before our eyes. Then we can effectively and efficiently apply the skills and wisdom we’ve acquired to put forth our best efforts right now.
We cannot always control the game, but we can choose how to play. We can rise above expectations by avoiding the pressure we often place upon ourselves. Sometimes you need to fly around the clouds…to continue seeing the light. Then you can remain focused on where you want to go…today.
