Only Put Off Until Tomorrow What You Are Willing to Die Having Left Undone – Pablo Picasso

This present moment is the only one fully assured to us by life.  If our goals and dreams are truly that important to us, we need to stop putting them off for another day.  It’s easy to fall into the trap that tomorrow is a guarantee, but the reality of life is that it is not.

Steve Jobs used to say that his biggest motivator for taking daily action on his goals and dreams and stopping the art of procrastination in his life, was the realization that he will be dead soon.  It might feel at times that we will live forever, that we have all the time in the world to accomplish those things which we desire, but the reality is, no matter what your age or health, even tomorrow is not promised.

We must be careful not to allow this understanding of life to sink us into a depressive or anxious state, but rather like Steve Jobs, use it as inspiration to compel us into daily action.

Let’s do all that we can to work toward your goals and dreams TODAY.  Let’s live from a place of love and happiness TODAY.  Let’s have a grateful attitude for this opportunity we have been given to participate in this grand adventure called life.

  1. Great quote and great seed! There are so many things I am not willing to die without doing (practicing getting through my anxiety, getting through my anxiety, etc.). You’re right that instead of looking at the sad side of not living forever, we have to use this fact as a reason to fight harder to reach our dreams and accomplish our goals!

  2. Procrastination is the thief of time. Thanks for the post to remind us that how important “now” is 🙂

  3. As a procrastinator, I always appreciate these reminders.

  4. Thanks for this… Needed!

  5. Fantastic quote! It just gives me one more reason to put artwork before housecleaning. I don’t mind dying with a dirty house, but I do mind dying with all my great ideas still in my head.

  6. Because my home is hospice again – this is important to remember.
