Smile in the Mirror. Do That Every Morning and You’ll Start to See a Big Difference in Your Life – Yoko Ono

In trying times, it can be hard to figure out what we need to make us feel better. Maybe we’re facing constant rejection or running into obstacles that stop us from reaching our goals. This can lead us towards feeling torn down, falling into a rut, and being exhausted as the days go on.

Whenever I notice this happening, I like to make the mental effort to get myself out of the rut and start feeling good again. This means paying attention to my thoughts and reactions throughout the day. It also means paying attention to how I start out my morning.

Your morning can set a mood for the rest of the day. If you wake up angry about getting out of bed, and annoyed at anything that happens, then there’s a high chance you will feel that way for the rest of the day. However, putting effort into making the day a good one can have a lasting effect.

Tell yourself it’s going to be a good day. Think of what you’re grateful for. Smile at yourself and say nice things in the mirror. You may be surprised to realize how different you feel.

  2. A lovely, positive post! I think you are absolutely right. I just finished a 30 day challenge of smiling first thing in the morning as you get out of bed and it has worked wonders for me. I think looking in the mirror and being and saying positive things to yourself is a great confidence booster, but something a lot of people sadly forget to give themselves.
