Although our worries may vary in size or importance, the effect it has over our mind and body is congruent. Worry alters our mood, generates anxiety and steals our focus away from the present.
We begin to live within the mind, creating and acting out imaginary scenarios that will probably never happen. Projecting ourselves into the future seems to make each passing moment miserable as we are too caught up in focusing on what may go wrong at a later date.
Just as avoiding change is inevitable, so is avoiding the worry. Whenever we step out of our comfort zone or change our routine, our mind tends to find ways in which to question everything.
Worrying fools you into thinking that the mind is solving problems when in fact it is creating them. If we allow ourselves to become consumed by these thoughts then the worry has won. Yet if we choose to accept them for what they are, let them pass by focusing on what is happening in the now, then the worry has been defeated.
To overcome a worry, focus on living in the present, accept each moment as it comes and look towards the future with an open mind. Embrace change positively, enjoying the highs and accepting the lows as life lessons. Approach the next stage of your life as a new chapter and as a period of growth for bigger and better things to come.
